Royce Keys and The 946 have been responsible for some wild destruction on WWE television, but setting The Bloodline’s car on fire gave Keys one concern he definitely wasn’t expecting. Once he realized they were a group of Black wrestlers about to film that particular scene in Birmingham, Alabama, even he had to question the optics.

Speaking to HOT 97, Keys looked back on the segment where The 946 targeted The Bloodline’s vehicle and set it ablaze. Keys was all for creating mayhem, but admitted the combination of what they were doing and where they were doing it made him pretty uncomfortable at first.

“It’s mayhem night. I was a little skeptical because we was in Birmingham, Alabama. Bunch of Black fools burning stuff in Alabama. I don’t know. So uncomfortable.”

Despite those initial reservations, Keys ultimately embraced the angle because the stuff he remembers most from growing up as a wrestling fan wasn’t always the matches. It was the crazy moments surrounding them.

“But it’s one of those things that, for me growing up watching wrestling, it was all about moments. You know, you had matches, but it was the moments that made everything.”

And apparently The 946 setting The Bloodline’s car on fire accomplished exactly that. Keys said fans have been stopping him and comparing the faction’s chaos to the Attitude Era, which he considers the greatest era in professional wrestling.

“So, you know, throughout the day, whenever I’m out and about, I’m always having people, ‘Oh man, you’re taking it back to the Attitude Era,’ which was the best era of professional wrestling. So just to even be mentioned with that, you know…”

For Keys, that reaction is exactly why something as ridiculous as torching The Bloodline’s car can have a place alongside great matches. He grew up remembering wrestling for those unpredictable moments, and now fans comparing The 946’s chaos to the Attitude Era tells him they’re creating some of their own.

Do you think The 946 setting The Bloodline’s car on fire delivered the kind of memorable chaos WWE needs more of? Let us know what you think in the comments.
