Seth Rollins was there for the birth of his daughter, but he nearly got himself thrown out before it was over. Becky Lynch says her husband decided to eat chips and salsa in the delivery room, and she was not interested in dealing with that while giving birth.
While speaking on the Harland Highway podcast, Lynch opened up about the birth of their daughter and revealed the entire process took around 24 hours. She also went through it without an epidural after being induced.
“Um, like, I went in, probably took about 24 hours, you know, from the time I went in.”
When asked about having an epidural, Lynch confirmed she didn’t have one but explained that doctors did use Pitocin to induce labor: “No epidural. But I had to be induced.” That led to some confusion from the interviewer over the word “induced,” before Lynch explained what she meant and joked along with him.
“Uh, yeah. And so, uh, yeah, yeah. They put me on Pitocin, like that thing that makes the contractions happen.”
Lynch said she went through around six hours of particularly intense contractions: “So, like, six, six hours of that heavy stuff.” Rollins was there with her through the birth, but Lynch had one request about where he should be standing. She wanted him near her head rather than getting a front-row view of everything happening below. That wasn’t what almost got him kicked out, though. Apparently, Rollins got hungry.
“Um, not that I insisted. I insisted he be by my head, but, uh, I was also, uh, I also at one point tried to kick him out of the room because he got real hungry and he was eating chips and salsa.”
The conversation quickly went off the rails when the interviewer joked about Rollins waiting for the placenta instead. Lynch had the perfect response ready: “He had the chips to dip it in.” Rollins survived the chips-and-salsa incident and stayed in the room. Despite Lynch initially wanting him stationed by her head, she confirmed that he eventually saw everything.
“I mean, he saw the… he saw the whole thing, I guess.”
Rollins ultimately made it through the entire birth without actually getting thrown out. Still, getting hungry enough to start eating chips and salsa while your wife is going through hours of labor apparently came pretty close to doing the trick.
