TNA’s relationship with Ohio Valley Wrestling could be getting a lot more important in 2027. After months of talk about the two promotions working together, there’s now a new plan on the table that could change where TNA produces some of its weekly content.
According to PWInsider, TNA is planning to begin taping Xplosion from OVW’s Davis Arena in Louisville, Kentucky early next year. That would be a big significant change from the current setup, where Xplosion matches are taped alongside TNA Impact events.
The reason apparently comes down to money. By producing Xplosion from Davis Arena instead of taking those matches on the road with Impact, TNA believes it can cut down on touring costs.
The plan comes as TNA and OVW continue working toward a broader working relationship. We previously reported in June that the two sides were discussing an arrangement that could essentially see OVW serve as a developmental system for TNA, and the companies share some financial backers.
TNA President Carlos Silva had also been spotted at several OVW events earlier this year while those discussions were taking place. However, PWInsider noted in its latest update that Silva hasn’t been seen at OVW events recently.
There are still some pieces that apparently haven’t been communicated to the roster. TNA talent haven’t been given their 2027 calendars yet, so there could still be plenty more information coming about exactly how the company plans to structure its schedule next year.
Either way, moving Xplosion to Davis Arena would give the developing TNA-OVW relationship something much more tangible. What started as talk about a possible developmental partnership could now result in TNA regularly producing one of its own shows out of OVW’s home building.
