Tessa Blanchard had fans in a frenzy after dropping AEW into her latest CMLL promo, but it looks like people may have jumped the gun on that one.
After CMLL’s July 3 event, fans started wondering whether Blanchard was teasing a future AEW move after she said she would chase Persephone there if she had to. Luchablog quickly shut that idea down on Twitter, making it clear the line was not really about Tessa going to AEW.
“tessa’s not actually going to AEW, this was a subtle dig that Persephone’s always going there and isn’t as much in CMLL now”
The whole thing happened after Blanchard and Garra Negra picked up the win in their rematch from last Friday, with Tessa scoring the pinfall victory over Persephone. That gave her the opening she needed to demand a championship match immediately.
Persephone was not having it. She told Tessa that she was lucky Persephone even allowed her to wrestle in a CMLL ring, then made it clear she would defend her title whenever and wherever she wanted. Tessa did not let that slide. As Persephone walked away, Blanchard called her a coward and said she would chase her to AEW if she had to, because the people want her to be champion.
That AEW line was enough to get fans talking, especially with Tessa recently leaving TNA Wrestling and already being a major topic because of her CMLL run. Al Snow also recently said WWE should be paying attention to her, so every little comment she makes is getting picked apart right now.
For now, though, this seems to be more about CMLL storyline heat than a real AEW tease. Tessa wants Persephone’s title, Persephone is making her wait, and the AEW mention was apparently just a dig at Persephone rather than a hint about Tessa’s next move.
