EC3 has no plans to bring Control Your Narrative back. After everything that happened with the promotion and the ridicule it received, EC3 now considers CYN a “dead idea” and has no interest in revisiting the name.
While speaking to Markyd123, EC3 was asked whether he would ever try CYN again knowing what he knows now, perhaps under a different name. EC3 first took issue with the way the original promotion was criticized, arguing that most of the people trashing it never actually watched the shows.
EC3 said the actual live events weren’t nearly as strange as the reputation CYN developed online. According to him, fans who attended were basically getting traditional wrestling with a few different ideas thrown into the mix.
“I think the criticisms probably weren’t warranted because nobody that criticized it actually watched the shows. The live events were basically just traditional professional wrestling with a little bit of a twist, with some satire involved.”
However, if anyone is waiting for EC3 to revive CYN just to prove those critics wrong, that isn’t happening. He has no interest in using the name or its terminology again. The bigger philosophy behind CYN is a different story. EC3 still believes wrestlers should have the freedom to develop themselves, figure out who they really are and express that through professional wrestling.
“The idea—it’s like a dead idea. So I have no interest in revisiting the name or the terminology. But the concept of allowing people to develop themselves and become the best version of themselves and being who they truly are and being able to express that through the art form of professional wrestling, that’s something that will never die.”
EC3 launched Control Your Narrative alongside Adam Scherr in 2022, and it quickly became a punching bag online over everything from its presentation to its unusual rules. EC3 later claimed some of the negativity surrounding CYN was actually an attempt to sabotage something different before it could grow.
Four years later, EC3 isn’t looking for another shot at making CYN work. He’s keeping the philosophy that inspired it, but the promotion itself—and apparently the entire Control Your Narrative branding—is staying in the past.
