The War Raiders threw out an open challenge at AAA TripleManía 34 Night Two on September 13, 2026, and it completely backfired. Erik and Ivar walked into Arena CDMX as AAA World Tag Team Champions, but El Hijo de Dr Wagner Jr. and Galeno answered the call and left Mexico City with their belts.
Erik and Ivar had been running through AAA’s tag team division since beating Pagano and Psycho Clown for the titles at Noche de Los Grandes in May, so an open challenge probably didn’t seem like much of a gamble.
It was. Wagner and Galeno came out swinging and refused to stay down no matter what the champions threw at them. Ivar even launched his massive frame off the top rope with a moonsault, while the Raiders later planted Wagner with a double powerbomb that looked like it was about to shut the door.
Galeno crashed the party before the referee could count three. He broke up the pin, dropped his straps and launched himself over the top rope onto the Raiders on the floor. Once Erik was thrown back inside, Wagner drilled him with a Wagner Driver. Galeno then climbed to the top and came down with a splash. One. Two. Three.
Just like that, the War Raiders were no longer champions. El Hijo de Dr Wagner Jr. and Galeno walked into the match as surprise challengers and walked out as the new AAA World Tag Team Champions, turning Erik and Ivar’s open challenge into one hell of a bad decision. The War Raiders wanted anybody in the building to step up. They got exactly what they asked for — and lost their titles because of it.
