Russo thinks the Mike Kanellis/Sami Zayn storyline is very weak. After Zayn lost this week, The Kanellis’ came out and Maria said, “We love that you lost”. Russo can’t believe that wrestling angles have fallen this far. He says that while Road Dogg (Brian James) knows wrestling better than Russo ever will, he’s not a trained writer and that’s becomes evident during segments like this.

Randy Orton came out and challenged Rusev after Rusev defeated Chad Gable, and this didn’t make much sense to Russo. He says that Orton is coming off of three straight losses to Jinder Mahal, so why is he able to just stroll to the ring and demand challenges? Logistically, Orton should have been kicked to the back of the line and built back up again.

Russo was shocked that WWE failed to do any pre-tapes leading up to the main event match between John Cena and Nakamura. In terms of the actual match, Russo was really hoping that WWE wouldn’t put Nakamura over just to satisfy the mark crowd, but with SummerSlam being in Brooklyn he’s sure that’s exactly why they did it.

That sums up today’s episode of Vince Russo’s The Brand. You can listen to the show yourself anytime here, and I’ll catch ya tomorrow for another recap!
