Vince Russo isn’t feeling the WrestleMania excitement right now, and he made that clear while breaking down WWE’s current build heading into the biggest show of the year.

While speaking during a recent discussion about WWE programming, Russo compared today’s approach to the old-school philosophy of promoting major events. He explained that in the past, the goal was always to talk fans into the building or convince them to buy tickets. In his view, the current WrestleMania lineup isn’t creating that same level of urgency or emotional investment.

Russo pointed directly at the main-event scene, saying that even with big names involved, the stories aren’t giving fans a strong reason to care about who actually wins. He specifically mentioned long-running stars like CM Punk and Roman Reigns as examples of talent that, while accomplished, may not be generating the excitement he believes WrestleMania should have.

“Bro, I don't know if it's me, but they're not doing that for me. I could give a sh*t who wins this freaking match. Like seriously — I mean to me Punk is freaking old hat. Reigns has been there forever. I've forgotten how many times Reigns has won and lost championships. I don't give a sh*t bro. And I'm sorry, bro, but there's a lot of people like me out there that want to have a reason to watch, but you're not giving me one.”

Russo’s comments reflect a wider debate among wrestling fans about how major events are built in the modern era. WrestleMania has long relied on star power, legacy rivalries, and blockbuster matchups, but criticism like this suggests that storytelling momentum still plays a major role in how fans connect with the show.

With WrestleMania season already in full swing, reactions like Russo’s show that not everyone is sold on the direction of the current build. Whether fans agree or disagree, opinions like this add fuel to ongoing conversations about what truly makes WrestleMania feel special year after year.
