Val Venis isn’t treating retirement like some blood oath — if he feels like wrestling again, he’s wrestling again. The former WWE star made it clear that another comeback isn’t off the table, and he doesn’t seem particularly interested in making some giant announcement before doing it.

Venis was talking wrestling during a Twitter Spaces conversation on his own X account when the discussion turned to the independent scene in Canada. Venis said he’d heard things were pretty hot up there right now, which eventually led to a question about his own recent return to the ring.

“Yeah, indie stuff, it goes through waves. But yeah, I hear it’s pretty hot up there right now. So that’s always a good thing for the boys, you know what I mean?”

That’s when a fan asked Venis whether his own recent appearance was just a one-off. His first answer was yes — but he immediately made it pretty obvious that “one-off” doesn’t mean he’s locking the wrestling boots away forever.

“Yeah, no, I got it. It was just a one off.”

Venis then laid out his retirement policy, and it’s basically whatever the hell he wants it to be.

“Yeah. At least, you know, I just, I do it when I want. If I feel like coming back out of retirement again, I’ll do it again, but if I don’t feel like it, I won’t.”

So don’t start printing posters for the Val Venis comeback tour just yet, because that’s not what he announced. What he did say is that retirement clearly isn’t stopping him from jumping back in the ring if the urge hits him again.

At this point, Venis seems perfectly happy making wrestling decisions on his own terms. If he wants another match, he’ll have another match — and if he doesn’t, everybody can apparently keep waiting.
