Val Venis saw Mustafa Ali criticizing Dustin Rhodes and decided to make himself part of the story. He went after Ali over Islam before dragging Mansoor into it too and accusing both wrestlers of supporting communism.
The latest round started after Ali made it clear he was disappointed by Rhodes’ controversial Twitter activity. Venis took to Twitter and responded by questioning whether Ali wanted what he called the “Islamification of America” to continue before telling him to find Christianity.
“Am I correct to assume @MustafaAli_X wants the Islamification of America to continue unopposed? Pray Mustafa Ali finds the truth in Jesus Christ and accepts the fact Jesus Christ died for his sins.”
Venis could have left it there. He didn’t. In another tweet, he pulled Mansoor into the argument by sharing a post in which Mansoor celebrated Dick Cheney’s death and a Muslim becoming mayor of New York City. Ali was pictured with him, and that was apparently enough for Venis to make another leap.
“📢 It appears Mustafa Ali and Mansoor supports Communism. So, just to be clear, a communist called out and shamed an American citizen, Dustin Reynolds, for liking the photo below, who then cowered and apologized to the communist, you can’t make this up in America today.”
All of this goes back to Rhodes responding with “❤️🤘🏼” to a post containing anti-Islam messaging and imagery that was also criticized as anti-trans. Rhodes was destroyed online over the reaction before saying he hadn’t actually read the caption and was reacting to the firearm pictured in the post.
Rhodes apologized, but that certainly hasn’t ended anything. Lars Sullivan already inserted himself into the mess by declaring that it was “ok to be islamophobic,” and now Venis has turned Ali’s criticism into his own fight with both Ali and Mansoor.
At this point, Rhodes is the one who apologized and tried to move past the original post. Everyone else seems determined to keep the argument going for him.
