The Undertaker Shuts Down Claims Brock Lesnar Only Cared About Money

The Undertaker has heard people say Brock Lesnar only cared about the money for years. After receiving a private phone call from Lesnar around the end of his wrestling career, Undertaker says that reputation completely undersells how much Brock actually cared about the business.

Speaking alongside Paul Heyman on Six Feet Under, Undertaker went straight at one of the biggest criticisms that followed Lesnar throughout his WWE run.

“I don’t think Brock really got enough credit for his passion for the business.”

For years, the conversation around Brock always seemed to come back to the same things. The money. The massive contracts. The limited dates. Undertaker remembers all of it.

“It was always, you know, ‘Well, it’s always about the money,’ or they bitched about the dates and everything like that.”

But that’s not the Brock Lesnar he knew. Undertaker believes Lesnar genuinely loved professional wrestling, regardless of what he negotiated for himself or how often WWE put him on television.

“I think he genuinely… had to love this business.”

Then Brock did something that drove that point home. Lesnar had reached the end of his wrestling career after losing to Oba Femi at SummerSlam, and he personally called Undertaker. Taker wouldn’t reveal a word of what Brock actually told him, but he didn’t need to. The fact that Brock made the call was enough.

“The phone call that I got yesterday really meant a lot to me. And I’m not even gonna get into what the phone call was about, but the fact that I received that phone call… it meant the world to me as an old timer.”

Paul Heyman understood immediately as he said he coudn’t imagine the day going by without that phone call.

“That phone call was a must. I couldn’t imagine the day going by without that phone call being placed.”

For Undertaker, it was another reminder that Brock understood the business in a way people didn’t always give him credit for. That’s what makes Lesnar walking away a little harder for him too.

“Things like that phone call yesterday reiterated to me, like, yeah, he understood. He gets it. “It is kind of sad for me, because it’s one less guy that’s gonna be around that understands tradition and the way things used to be done.”

Brock spent years getting labeled as the guy who showed up for a giant paycheck and as few dates as possible. Undertaker isn’t buying that version of him. One phone call around the end of Brock’s career only reinforced what Taker already believed—Lesnar cared about professional wrestling considerably more than people gave him credit for.
