The card for ROH x CMLL: Global Wars 2025 is heating up—and now it includes a dream match decades in the making.
AEW President Tony Khan took to social media to announce a champion vs. icon bout set for June 18 at Arena Mexico, where ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty will take on legendary Lucha Libre technician Blue Panther. Sharing the news on X, Khan wrote:
“After both men were victorious at DEAN~!2 to honor the late great Dean Rasmussen, ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty will fight vs icon Blue Panther in Arena México Wednesday.”
That’s not all. A major women’s tag match has also been confirmed. ROH Women’s World Champion Athena will team up with Billie Starkz to face Thunder Rosa and Persephone, following a recent confrontation between Athena and Rosa. Khan confirmed the match with another post:
“After Thunder’s altercation with The Fallen Goddess, La Mera Mera will team with Persephone vs ROH Women’s World Champion Athena + Billie Starkz.”
Global Wars 2025 goes down the same night as AEW’s Grand Slam: Mexico, making June 18 a stacked night for wrestling fans in Mexico City. With stars from both promotions crossing over, all eyes are now on Arena Mexico for what’s shaping up to be a must-see doubleheader.
