Trish Stratus isn’t stepping back into WWE just for nostalgia — and she made it clear that money isn’t what convinces her to return.

While speaking on Busted Open Radio, Stratus explained that when WWE reaches out about potential appearances, she carefully evaluates what kind of role she would be playing. Rather than simply accepting appearances, she looks for opportunities that push her creatively and allow her to evolve as a performer. She made it clear that challenge is the biggest factor when deciding whether to return.

“From a personal perspective, I want to make sure I'm doing something different that's challenging me as a performer.”

Stratus used her feud with Becky Lynch as an example, explaining how she didn’t want to simply return in a predictable role. Instead, she pushed to do something different that would test her as a performer.

“The first one going back with Becky, right? It was, yeah, go back babyface. I said if I can come back and turn heel in this and make it a little bit of a longer story, I'd love that to challenge myself… just to make something different interesting.”

She also said working with younger talent is another major reason she chooses to return when the situation makes sense.

“I also want to make sure that I'm touching another generation in a certain way… working with Zoey was a great way to get someone brand new in. She was side by side with me for weeks on end.”

Stratus already has nothing left to prove, but her comments make it clear she wants every appearance to feel meaningful rather than routine.
