WWE is heading back to Hawaii for the first time in seven years, but Triple H says the company has much bigger plans than simply running two shows and leaving town.
WWE will hold back-to-back live events at the Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu on October 16 and 17, marking the company’s first trip to Hawaii since September 2019. WWE is also using the trip to scout prospective talent with tryout sessions as the company searches for its next generation of stars from the Pacific Islands.
During a new interview with KHON2 News, Triple H was asked about WWE’s upcoming return to Hawaii. He first revealed just how much interest there has been from the roster, saying talent has been pushing to get booked on the shows.
“It’s going to be amazing. We haven’t been there since 2019. I can tell you that every superstar in the WWE has been calling, asking us to be on this card. They’re chomping at the bit to get there, so this is exciting for us.”
Triple H then made the bigger announcement. WWE’s October trip is not being treated as a one-off return, with the Chief Content Officer saying the company intends to make Hawaii a regular destination again.
“And this isn’t a one-time deal. We’re not just coming there now. We’re going to be coming there on a regular basis. We’re going to make sure that we have our feet back on the ground in Hawaii where they always should have been.”
Triple H connected that commitment to WWE’s long history in Hawaii and across the Pacific Islands, while also explaining why the company is holding tryouts during the trip.
“Our roots are there, and again, that’s why we are looking for that next generation too. We want to ensure that that remains — the Pacific Islands remain a home for us for years to come.”
Earlier in the interview, Triple H pointed to names including The Rock, Peter Maivia, Roman Reigns, The Usos and Nia Jax while discussing the region’s impact on WWE. He said the company believes another generation of Pacific Island stars is out there waiting to be discovered.
For Hawaiian WWE fans who have been waiting since 2019 to see the company return, October may be more than just a long-overdue visit. Triple H is putting it out there that WWE plans to plant its feet back in Hawaii and keep coming back, meaning the seven-year wait between shows could finally be a thing of the past.
