Trick Williams and Lil Yachty have become one of WWE’s most talked-about pairings in recent months, and now the United States Champion has revealed how the collaboration first came together behind the scenes.

While speaking with Travis Singleton of SneakerReporter, Williams explained that Yachty’s involvement was not just some quick celebrity cameo. According to Trick, Yachty genuinely loves wrestling and has been attending shows for years, even though he already has a successful career in music and entertainment.

“Lil Yachty—man, he’s a guy who obviously loves the business. He doesn’t necessarily need to do everything that he’s doing because he’s had, and is having, a very successful hip-hop career, movies, everything like that.”

Williams said the real reason Yachty keeps showing up is simple: he loves the business. That made WWE’s decision to involve him before WrestleMania feel natural, especially once the idea of walking out with Trick came up.

“The truth is, he just loves the business. That’s why he has come to all the shows for years now. Opportunity came before WrestleMania—they wanted to get him involved in some way.”

Trick then revealed that both he and Yachty were asked about doing the entrance together, and both liked the idea. However, Yachty made it clear he did not want it to be a random one-week appearance. He wanted something with a real storyline behind it.

“They said, ‘How would you feel about walking out with Trick Williams?’ They asked him and they asked me. I thought it was dope, he thought it was dope, but he was like, ‘Man, if we’re going to do this, I don’t want it to be a one-week type thing. I want to have some real storyline going into this. Let’s make this a moment instead of a random one-off.’”

That mindset apparently carried over behind the scenes. Trick Williams said Yachty has stayed locked in ever since and has even been training so he can get a real feel for what it means to be part of WWE.

“He has been locked in ever since. Shoot, we’ve got training in about an hour—we make sure that he’s getting active, he’s getting the full experience of being a superstar here with us.”

Trick also made it clear that his bond with Yachty has become very real. He said they spend a lot of time together both inside and outside WWE, to the point where Yachty is around him more than many of his actual co-workers.

“That’s my boy, man—inside the ring, outside the ring. I probably spend more time with Yachty than most other people who are in the business who are my co-workers.”

This gives more context to why WWE has been happy with the pairing. Trick Williams has been getting strong reactions, especially around his South Carolina appearances, while Yachty has earned praise for taking the wrestling side seriously instead of just treating it like a celebrity guest spot.

For now, it sounds like Trick Williams and Lil Yachty are not just doing a quick crossover for attention. Yachty wanted a real story, Trick was all in, and WWE may have found a celebrity pairing that actually has some staying power.
