The bucket finally found Tony Schiavone. As the wrestling world’s ALS Ice Bucket Challenge continues to sweep across WWE and AEW, the longtime AEW broadcaster became the latest name to get soaked in support of Rebel—and he had a little help from three very eager assistants.
Standing outside with his three grandchildren beside him, Schiavone took to his Instagram and smiled into the camera before making it clear this wasn’t just another viral challenge. It was for someone who has meant a lot to AEW since day one.
“Well, it’s time for the Ice Bucket Challenge. I wanna say, Rebel, we love you. One of the great young ladies in AEW and one of the originals, and this is all for you.”
Seconds later, the countdown was over. Three buckets of ice water came crashing down, Schiavone could barely get the words out through the freezing shock, and after laughing it off, he wasted no time making sure the challenge didn’t stop with him. Instead, he tagged the next group of names.
“I’m gonna be assisted by three of my grandchildren. So here we go. Oh my God. I wanna nominate Justin Roberts, Nigel McGuinness, and members of The Swirl, Blake Christian and Lee Johnson.”
Schiavone is only the latest wrestling personality to jump into what’s become one of the industry’s biggest shows of support for Rebel.
Over the last week, the challenge has spread from one corner of wrestling to another, with Mick Foley standing beside Rebel while Britt Baker dumped three buckets of ice over his head, Harley Cameron taking the plunge, Sting cutting a classic Sting-style promo before getting soaked, Tony Khan accepting his nomination during Jaguars training camp, and The Young Bucks, Anna Jay, Jack Perry and Luchasaurus all doing their part to keep the movement alive.
With every new video, the names keep changing. The message doesn’t. Support Rebel. Raise awareness for ALS. Nominate the next person. And after Schiavone’s latest video, it’s now up to Justin Roberts, Nigel McGuinness, Blake Christian and Lee Johnson to decide whether they’ll answer the call.
