Tony Khan has apparently drawn the line on at least one Nyla Rose idea, and it involves keeping her away from moving vehicles.
During her appearance on Jasmin St. Claire’s Off the Rails podcast, Rose revealed that she has been trying to convince the AEW president to let her get hit by a car as part of a storyline. The subject came up while Rose was explaining that Khan isn’t afraid to reject ideas directly. According to Rose, getting run over has been one of those pitches Khan simply refuses to entertain.
“Get hit by a car for like four years.”
Rose made it clear she wasn’t joking about being willing to perform the stunt. She pointed to her previous film stunt experience while describing Khan repeatedly shooting the idea down.
“Yeah. He’s like, ‘He won’t let me get hit by a car.’ He’s like, ‘No, we’re not going to hit you with a car.’ I’m like, ‘It would be great. It would be so good. Like, I can do it. I’ve done it in film. Like, let me, let me get hit by a car.’ He’s like, ‘No.’”
There was actually a much bigger storyline behind Rose’s obsession with getting flattened by a vehicle. Later in the conversation, she explained that one version of the idea was connected to her old AEW pairing with Vickie Guerrero. Rose said she and Guerrero had a blast working together as the Vicious Vixens, and she wanted their partnership to eventually turn into something much bigger.
“Me and Vicki had like some of the most fun just getting to be unhinged. I think I like to think I brought a more unhinged side of her out. She kind of polished me up and we just played off of each other so well and ironically enough me getting hit by a car was for the Vicki angle.”
Rose’s original plan was for the Vicious Vixens to develop into a full faction before everything eventually exploded into a street fight between Rose and Guerrero. Since Guerrero wasn’t a wrestler, Rose figured running her over would be one hell of a way to even the odds.
“We came together as the Vicious Vixens. I wanted it to become a faction. I wanted to build it to become a faction and with the ultimate payoff being like a street fight between me and Vicki. Well, Vicki is not a wrestler. She needs a great equalizer. Why would she not run me over with a car? Like it hopefully was going to build to like this big, big culminating moment, but we didn’t get there unfortunately.”
So yes, Nyla Rose really wanted Vickie Guerrero to run her over before the two settled things in a street fight. Tony Khan clearly decided that was one creative pitch that needed to stay parked, but Rose still sounds convinced she could pull the stunt off.
