Tony Khan isn’t just defending AEW’s track record anymore—he’s admitting where things didn’t work and laying out how he’s fixing it.
While Khan has previously made it clear he’d never intentionally put on a bad pay-per-view, this update changes the focus to what was happening behind the scenes during some of AEW’s uneven stretches.
Speaking with KING 5 News, Khan addressed the ongoing speculation about AEW’s creative direction—and didn’t dodge it. Instead, he acknowledged that too many voices were involved in shaping the product. Rather than keeping things vague, Khan made it clear he’s changing how he operates moving forward: “From now on… I will only trust my instincts. I will only execute the ideas that I believe in.”
Instead of juggling multiple creative inputs, Khan is now positioning himself as the final voice—locking in a more controlled approach after a period where decisions may have been spread too thin.
This comes after months of discussion around talent input and creative influence in AEW, with questions about consistency popping up throughout the year. Now, Khan is drawing a line and taking ownership of the direction. With AEW continuing to build its brand around strong shows and big events, this shift could play a major role in how the product looks going forward.
Do you think Tony Khan taking full control of AEW creative has made the shows better, or was the collaborative approach the right move? Let us know your thoughts.
