Jonathan Coachman clearly hasn’t changed his mind about Tony Khan’s announcement videos and he called out the AEW President for it.

While speaking on the Coach and Bro Show, Coach brought up a previous conversation he had with Tony Khan and said he had already told the AEW President that his long promo-style announcement videos needed work. Coach felt Khan either needed better help with them or should stop doing them altogether.

“Remember when we had Tony Khan on the show and we talked to him about those promos when he stands in front of a plain background for about 25 minutes? We said either get better people to help you or stop doing them.”

Coach then claimed Khan actually stopped doing those kinds of videos for a few months, but recently went back to the same format. This time, Coach said Khan brought Sareee into the video with an interpreter, which made the segment feel even longer to him.

“Vince, he did for about three months. And yesterday, oh baby, we got one. And he took it a step further. He brought in a young lady named Sareee. She’s Asian. She needs an interpreter.”

Coach continued criticizing the video, saying Khan kept repeating how excited he was while promoting a women’s match. Coach said he immediately felt like Khan had gone back to the exact style they had criticized before.

“Tony Khan on his Twitter handle… he talks, you know, he says ‘exciting’ five times. ‘I’m so excited. I’m so excited.’ They had this female matchup and I was like, ‘No, Tony. We talked about this.’ He brings her into the shot with an interpreter and it was like 20 minutes, Vince. I was like, ‘Oh man, he’s listening to us. He’s really listening to us.’”

Coach then joked that Khan may not be able to help himself when it comes to these long announcement videos: “And then I think sometimes he just can’t help himself.” Vince Russo didn’t have much to add, but he was clearly amused by Coach’s description and said he now wanted to find the video himself: “Yeah. Oh, I’ve got to find that and watch that.”

Jonathan Coachman then stated that he initially wasn’t even planning to bring it up, but the video reminded him of exactly why he had criticized Khan’s announcement style in the first place: “I was on Twitter yesterday and Tony Khan… it was one of those announcements again. I didn’t even think I was going to bring it up, but…”

Coachman’s issue seems pretty simple: he thinks Tony Khan turns basic AEW announcements into videos that drag on way too long. Whether fans agree or not, Coach clearly believes Khan’s message would hit harder if he got to the point faster.
