The June 2 episode from WWE’s NXT brand was a fun episode, and there were several big moments. An NXT Title defense always brings special attention to any episode when they come up, and this week saw an exciting matchup for the brand’s top prize.
Tony D’Angelo put his NXT Title on the line against Kam Hendrix this week on NXT. The former Don of NXT is now the champion, but there are a few impressive newcomers on the scene.
Naraku made it clear that he has dibs on Tony D’Angelo. The former Evil wants the NXT Title, and he made that clear during a tense backstage encounter with Kam Hendrix last week on NXT. That being said, the match between Tony D and Kam carried on.
The main event of the night came down to the NXT Title match. The match got 13 minutes, but the show cut to a commercial with nine minutes left. Naraku stood at ringside and kept a menacing eye on things, but that didn’t stop the action in the ring.
Kam Hendrix put Tony D’Angelo to the test as he scored a couple of close calls on the NXT Champion. However, Tony was able to kick out to keep his title. As this match carried on, fans wondered how it would end as they cut it close to the show’s end.
Mason Reed showed up to make sure that Kam Hendrix didn’t use a chair on the champion. Then D’Angelo was able to nail a Dead To Rights to retain his title. Only time will tell how much time he has with the title, but Tony D’Angelo stood tall tonight.
