Tony Atlas just added another championship to his résumé, and he did it at 72 years old.

The WWE Hall of Famer captured the ISPW Tri-State Championship at ISPW BaseBrawl 2, which took place at Wallington High School in Wallington, New Jersey.

Atlas teamed with Mr. Joe Clean in a tag team match against “The Assistant” Angel Reyez and “The A Player” Anthony. Anthony walked into the match as the reigning ISPW Tri-State Champion, but there was a catch. If Anthony got pinned during the tag team match, he would lose the title. That is exactly what happened. Atlas scored the pinfall over Anthony and walked out as the new ISPW Tri-State Champion.

The win marks Atlas’ first singles championship since 1998, when he won the EWA Heavyweight Championship. That means Atlas just captured his first singles title in nearly three decades.

Atlas has had a long career in wrestling, including his legendary WWE run and his historic tag team title reign with Rocky Johnson. Now, decades later, he is still stepping into the ring and still winning gold. The event also helped raise money for Wallington Little League, giving Atlas’ title win an extra feel-good moment on top of an already surprising night.

At 72 years old, Tony Atlas proved he still has something left in the tank. Winning a championship nearly 30 years after his last singles title is the kind of wrestling story fans don’t see every day.
