Chris Jericho finally got a win over Ricochet on AEW Dynamite — but he didn’t get to celebrate for very long before Tommaso Ciampa blindsided him after the match.
Jericho and Ricochet opened the May 27 AEW Dynamite/Collision special in Philadelphia with a singles match where everyone was banned from ringside. The match turned into a chaotic fight packed with counters, near falls, low blows, and finishers before Jericho finally put Ricochet away.
After surviving Ricochet’s offense, Jericho connected with the Judas Effect and followed it up with a Lionsault to secure the victory. The ending felt like a major moment for Jericho considering Ricochet had repeatedly gotten the better of him during their recent issues. But seconds after the bell rang, things completely changed. As Jericho was recovering from the match, Ciampa suddenly attacked him out of nowhere.
The post-match assault instantly caught the crowd off guard and seemingly set up Jericho’s next major feud coming out of Double or Nothing fallout. AEW didn’t waste time moving Jericho into another program after his issues with Ricochet, and Ciampa picking that moment to strike made a statement immediately.
Jericho may have finally beaten Ricochet, but AEW made it clear he isn’t getting any time to breathe before another fight lands in his lap.
