The backlash to Tiffany Stratton’s WWE Crown Jewel cash-in apparently didn’t stop with a few angry tweets. WWE’s own YouTube upload of the title change is getting absolutely hammered with dislikes, suggesting the reaction to the booking went well beyond a handful of frustrated fans.
WWE uploaded footage of Stratton cashing in her Money in the Bank contract on Chelsea Green and becoming the new WWE Women’s Champion. At the time of writing, the video had racked up around 493,000 views — but the like-to-dislike numbers were pretty brutal.
The video had approximately 9,004 likes compared to a whopping 28,464 dislikes. That works out to roughly 24% likes and 76% dislikes among the recorded reactions, meaning dislikes were outnumbering likes by more than three to one.
Those numbers line up with some of the immediate reaction that followed Crown Jewel. Several fans complained that WWE had gone with an incredibly predictable outcome, with one questioning why Roxanne Perez wasn’t given the briefcase instead.
“You guys chose this over Roxanne cashing in on Liv….”
Another viewer argued WWE creative should have come up with something less obvious: “Can’t creative bring up something different? This was predictable” One fan claimed the destination had been obvious from the moment Stratton got her hands on the Money in the Bank briefcase.
“The moment Tiffany touched the briefcase at MITB we knew this was happening”
Stratton cashed in immediately after Green defeated Liv Morgan to capture the Women’s Crown Jewel Championship. She initially appeared to be helping Green after Morgan attacked her, only to reveal that Chelsea was actually her target.
Green had even helped Stratton fend off Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez before getting betrayed herself. Stratton then hit the exhausted champion with the Prettiest Moonsault Ever and walked out of Riyadh with the WWE Women’s Championship.
YouTube reaction totals can continue changing as more people watch and interact with the video, but the snapshot is still pretty ugly for WWE. The company wanted Stratton’s betrayal to be one of Crown Jewel’s biggest talking points, and it certainly succeeded there — just apparently not for reasons everyone watching was happy about.
