Thekla’s AEW fans apparently aren’t showing up just looking for photos and autographs — some of them actually want to get insulted to their faces.
During an interview with TMZ’s Inside the Ring, Thekla revealed that fans routinely approach her at conventions and specifically ask her to hit them with her trademark “dumb bitch” line, turning what would normally sound like an insult into one of the strangest perks of meeting her.
Thekla was asked whether dealing with large groups of fans ever gives her anxiety or if she actually enjoys being around them. She made it clear that conventions are usually a blast for her, especially when fans already understand her personality and know exactly what kind of interaction they want.
“Honestly, I like it at conventions. I’m not an introvert at all. I think it’s super funny, especially when I’m in a good mood. And usually, you know, I get into it and then people just come up and they’re like, ‘Can you call me a dumb bitch?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, you get it.’”
One of the hosts couldn’t believe people actually walk up and ask for that, but Thekla quickly made it clear this isn’t some one-off encounter. According to her, fans wanting to get roasted happens all the time.
“Yeah, that happens. It happens all the time. It happens all—I did, I was about to do the thing with Willow and Mick Foley and I just looked behind me and there are some fans wearing my T-shirt and they just lean in to call me a dumb bitch.”
Thekla didn’t leave them hanging either. She turned around, gave them exactly what they came for, and said their reaction was basically like they had just won the lottery.
“Like I was like, ‘Dumb bitch,’ and they’re like, ‘Yeah!’ It just made their day, you know?”
It gets even better. Some fans apparently don’t just want Thekla to verbally torch them — they want the insult permanently written on their merchandise.
“Like fans coming up to me and wanting to write down, you know, ‘To, from Thekla, to dumbest bitch alive.’ Like, fuck yeah, I got the best fans in the world.”
Most wrestlers have fans asking for a signature, a selfie or maybe a quick hug. Thekla has people lining up hoping she’ll call them a dumb bitch and apparently walking away thrilled when she delivers. That’s one hell of a fan experience, but for Thekla’s crowd, it sounds like getting insulted might actually be the souvenir.
