Tessa Blanchard may have found herself stuck in the middle of wrestling politics, as she’s currently caught in the crossfire of a promotional war between CMLL and TNA.

Blanchard competed at the June 2 CMLL Martes Populares show in Arena Mexico, where she teamed with India Sioux in a losing effort against Olympia and Zeuxis. According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that appearance has now put Blanchard in the middle of wrestling’s ongoing promotional politics.

“Tessa Blanchard appears to be caught in the crossfire of the wrestling promotional war. Basically, TNA doesn’t want a wrestler on their TV working for CMLL.”

Dave Meltzer argued that TNA Wrestling should not be concerned with Tessa Blanchard working CMLL, but noted that wrestling politics are clearly playing a role because of the larger AAA/CMLL divide.

“They shouldn’t care. It’s not their war. But wrestling politics are such that people above TNA probably aren’t happy that a TNA wrestler was on the same show as their wrestlers in the U.S. is in CMLL.”

Blanchard’s CMLL appearance was not the only thing mentioned either. Meltzer also pointed out that she wrestled AEW talent Persephone in Las Vegas during WrestleMania week, which could affect her future chances of working with AEW or ROH-connected talent.

“It was also noted that Blanchard wrestled an AEW wrestler, Persephone, in Las Vegas over WrestleMania week. I’d guess there is almost no chance of her being booked with AEW or ROH talent or on their platforms.”

Meltzer then said the pressure around Blanchard says a lot about TNA’s current position in the wider wrestling landscape: “The fact that there is pressure on her just confirms what everyone already knows about TNA.”

Blanchard’s CMLL match now looks like more than a simple booking. With TNA, CMLL, AAA, AEW, ROH, and WWE-adjacent politics all floating around, she appears to be stuck in the middle of a promotional tug-of-war that could affect where she can work next.

Do you think TNA is right to care about Tessa Blanchard working CMLL, or should promotions stay out of wrestlers’ outside bookings? Let us know your thoughts and feedback in the comments below.
