Swerve Strickland is no longer being subtle about his AEW absence, and now he is putting the blame directly on AEW management.
After fans started asking why the former AEW World Champion hasn’t been on television, Swerve jumped on Twitter and dropped a video making one thing very clear: he says AEW management is the reason he isn’t on Dynamite. Swerve opened by making it clear he was ready to address the deleted tweet that got people talking in the first place.
“I’m gonna get some things off my chest and address what I said on Twitter this week about asking questions about me being on television.”
That was Swerve immediately telling everyone this wasn’t some random social media slip. He knew people saw the tweet. He knew people were asking questions. And instead of brushing it off, he leaned right into it. Then he pointed the finger directly at AEW management.
“As you can see, I’m not at AEW right now. I’m not at Dynamite tonight. I’m here at home because of AEW management. They want to keep me away from TV. I haven’t been at AEW TV—AEW management is responsible for that.”
He said AEW management is keeping him away from television. That gives the whole situation a much sharper storyline edge, especially since he hasn’t been live in front of an AEW crowd since his second match against Kenny Omega around six weeks ago. Swerve also gave Tony Khan some credit for outside opportunities, but then made it clear those appearances are not enough for him.
“Shout out to Tony Khan—thank you for having me doing some ambassador work for WBD. Thank you for sending me to the NFL Draft. But you’re keeping me away from doing my job, which is getting in the ring and hurting people.”
Swerve Strickland then tied his absence to championship gold and made it sound like AEW is afraid of what happens when he gets back.
“The longer I’m away from the ring, the longer I’m away from championship gold. That’s why they’ve abandoned me from AEW Dynamite, because they’re afraid of what I’m gonna do to Bandido and to the staff and locker room of AEW.”
He said being away from Dynamite is costing him a path back to gold. He also name-dropped Bandido, which makes it feel like AEW may be setting up something much bigger between them. Swerve then brought Kenny Omega into the conversation and framed himself as someone AEW can’t control.
“It goes back to what I did to Kenny Omega this year. I’m a danger to AEW Dynamite. Now AEW is keeping me away. They’re gonna play games with my career? Bet. Like I said—I want power. I want it all.”
This all started after Swerve posted and quickly deleted a tweet questioning his AEW absence: “Time to start asking questions why swerve aint on tv.” That tweet caught fire because Swerve has barely been seen on AEW programming lately. He did appear in a pre-taped Bandido segment on the April 29 episode of Dynamite, but he has not been featured live in front of the crowd in weeks.
Before Swerve dropped his video, Self Made Pro addressed the situation during a Self Made Session and said that one AEW source claimed the tweet was intentional. Self Made Pro then explained what one source claimed about the deleted post
“A lot of questions were being asked. There were some people in AEW straight up that were just like, ‘Hey, what’s up with that?’ “This is what I can tell you guys based on the information that I’ve learned and been told on record, is what I should say. So, a source claimed to me—they claimed that Swerve’s tweet was a work.”
For now, Swerve Strickland is not letting AEW quietly move on without him. He may be sitting at home, but his latest video made sure his name is right back in the conversation. If this is leading to his next major AEW angle, Swerve just made it very clear that he isn’t coming back quietly.
What do you think about Swerve Strickland blaming AEW management for keeping him off Dynamite? Is this the start of a major return angle, or do you think there’s more going on? Let us know your thoughts and leave your feedback in the comments.
