Steve Maclin’s TNA release did not come out of nowhere, and there now appears to be more context behind his exit. While Myla Grace’s departure had already been expected, Maclin being included in TNA’s announcement raised a lot more eyebrows.
TNA announced on June 7, 2026 that Maclin and Myla Grace had both been released, effective immediately. The company kept the announcement short and said it had come to terms on their releases.
“TNA Wrestling has come to terms on the release of Steve Maclin and Myla Grace, effective immediately. We wish them the best in their future endeavors.”
Myla Grace’s exit had already been expected after it was reported on June 4 that she requested her release and TNA granted it. There was said to be no heat between Grace and the company. Maclin’s name was the bigger surprise, but there is now more context behind his departure.
Fightful Select reports that Maclin had been very outspoken, both directly and publicly, about his frustrations with TNA’s creative direction dating back to last year. He was also said to be among talent who did not believe things had improved creatively since TNA’s move to AMC.
The report also noted that pay scale has been discussed internally as an issue. Most TNA talent are not on full-time salaried deals, and many contracts have moved toward short-term agreements, even after the AMC debut.
Maclin had been a major player in TNA, including a run as TNA World Champion, so his release immediately stood out. Now, with the added context about his creative frustrations and larger contract concerns inside the company, his exit makes more sense. Maclin is also expected to have interest from companies outside of TNA, so his next move will be worth watching.
TNA has been getting more attention lately through its WWE partnership and bigger event schedule, but losing someone like Maclin is still a notable roster shakeup. Grace was already on her way out, but Maclin’s departure now looks tied to bigger issues that had been building behind the scenes.
