One of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s old knee braces just found a new home, and this wasn’t some replica somebody picked up at a merch stand. The match-worn DonJoy brace dates back to Austin’s Attitude Era run, comes signed by the Texas Rattlesnake himself and even has WWE paperwork with Linda McMahon’s signature attached.
The brace was sold through Heritage Auctions and is believed to date from around 1999. Austin signed the top in gold paint pen and wrote “5-8-99” next to it, with an old WWF authentication sticker sitting nearby.
This thing definitely doesn’t look like it spent the last 27 years sitting untouched in a display case either. There are scratches and paint loss across the brace, while only three of the four Velcro fasteners still work.
The fourth one might actually explain why Austin stopped using it. The top button is broken off, and Heritage noted that the damage may have been what finally ended the brace’s run inside the ring.
There’s also quite a paper trail backing the piece up. Along with the WWE letter signed by Linda McMahon, the brace came with authentication from Heritage Auctions, PSA/DNA and Beckett Authentication Services.
Getting your hands on something Austin actually wore isn’t exactly easy either. Heritage noted that very few of his match-worn items have made it onto the open market, with his famous wrestling vests apparently remaining especially difficult for collectors to find.
His knee braces have already proven they can bring in some crazy money. The brace Austin wore for his WrestleMania 38 comeback sold for $58,045, while Heritage sold another one for a whopping $115,900 in May 2026.
That’s what makes these braces more than just another piece of signed Stone Cold memorabilia. They’re beat-up pieces of gear that actually went through Austin’s matches with him, and collectors clearly aren’t having much trouble opening their wallets whenever one finally hits the market.
