Stephanie McMahon’s WWE Hall of Fame induction marked a historic moment — but according to her, it was never supposed to happen in the first place.
Speaking on a recent episode of What’s Your Story?, Stephanie explained that growing up in the McMahon family came with a clear message: family members weren’t meant to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. The philosophy, she said, was rooted in how the McMahons viewed their role in the business.
While discussing the long-awaited honor during WrestleMania 42 weekend, Stephanie revealed that the idea of McMahon family members entering the Hall of Fame went against what she had been taught from an early age.
“Well, the McMahons were never supposed to be in the Hall of Fame, as I was always brought up. You know, we were characters that were intentionally designed to get other talent over. So it was never about us. And that’s just sort of like ingrained in my brain.”
Her induction made her just the second member of the McMahon family to receive the honor, following her grandfather Vincent J. McMahon, who was posthumously inducted in 1996. The moment was made even more personal when Stephanie’s three daughters joined her mother, Linda McMahon, to help induct her during the ceremony.
During the same conversation, Paige praised Stephanie for her leadership and influence, especially when it came to supporting women in WWE. Paige credited Stephanie for consistently advocating for talent and creating opportunities that helped shape careers across the roster.
“You’ve done so much in your career. Like, you’re very inspiring for women and anyone that’s worked, any woman or man, but just speaking from a woman’s perspective here, any woman that’s worked with you have only ever said positive things.”
Stephanie’s induction also came during a complicated period for the McMahon family. Her father, Vince McMahon, has been absent from WWE since January 2024 after resigning amid legal controversy tied to a sexual abuse lawsuit filed by Janel Grant.
Despite that backdrop, Stephanie’s Hall of Fame moment stood as a milestone achievement — one that went against long-standing family beliefs about who should receive the honor.
