Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo isn’t letting Adriana Rizzo’s WWE release change her place in The D’Angelo Family’s history. As far as he’s concerned, Big Rizz is still family for life.
Stacks took to his Instagram Story following Rizzo’s release and shared a tribute featuring Rizzo alongside himself, Tony D’Angelo and Luca Crusifino. His message was short, but it said plenty about how much Rizzo meant to the group.
“Family 4 Life. The Glue”
Calling Rizzo “The Glue” is especially telling considering how closely the four became associated during their run together in NXT. Rizzo joined The D’Angelo Family as “Big Rizz” and eventually became an important part of the group alongside Tony, Stacks and Luca.
The tribute comes after Rizzo confirmed on September 5 that her four-year WWE run had officially come to an end. In her own statement, she made it clear that her relationship with The D’Angelo Family went well beyond simply playing characters together on television.
“I’m incredibly grateful for my time as part of The D’Angelo Family. They truly became family to me.”
Rizzo’s release was particularly difficult because of everything she went through just to get back into the ring. An Achilles rupture followed by ACL and meniscus surgery kept her sidelined for nearly half of her time in NXT, and she had only recently returned after spending more than a year away. She admitted that leaving without getting the opportunity to show how much more she could do made the ending hurt, but she also made it clear that she isn’t finished with wrestling.
Stacks apparently won’t be forgetting her contribution either. WWE may have brought Rizzo’s time with The D’Angelo Family to an end, but “Family 4 Life” makes it pretty clear that the bond didn’t disappear with her release papers.
