Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo is officially back in the ring just weeks after a scary NXT live event injury saw him stretchered out and taken to the hospital. Stacks made his return on November 8, and he wasted no time jumping straight into a pretty chaotic match.
Stacks took to his Instagram Story and revealed that he competed at the NXT live event in Gainesville, Florida. It marked his first match back since getting hurt during an NXT house show on October 16. For his return, Stacks teamed with BirthRight partner Uriah Connors and WWE NXT Tag Team Champions The Vanity Project, Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes, in a Traditional Survivor Series 4-on-4 Tag Team Elimination Match.
Standing across from them were Shiloh Hill, “The Main One” Zilla Fatu and The Dropouts, Scott Green and “The Tuckman” Tyran Tuckey. Stacks’ team didn’t get the victory, with Zilla ultimately emerging as the lone survivor. Still, the result probably isn’t the biggest story here. Just a few weeks ago, there were serious concerns about Stacks after a bad fall during an eight-man tag team match in Sudbury, Ontario.
Stacks took a back body drop over the top rope and crashed onto the floor, forcing WWE to stop the match while medical personnel checked on him. He was eventually stretchered out and transported to a nearby hospital. He later showed himself wearing a neck brace in the hospital but was already cracking jokes about the situation.
“Doc was concerned about my ‘attitude’.. Told ’em it’s a preexisting condition. The show goes on.”
At the time, Stacks never publicly revealed exactly what he injured or gave fans a timetable for his return. Now there’s no need to wonder when he’ll wrestle again — he’s already done it, with his first match back putting him right into a Survivor Series elimination match.
