AEW Forbidden Door is getting a new steel cage tonight, and it won’t look like the usual setup.
Ahead of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2026 at the SAP Center in San Jose, word is that AEW has prepared a new-look cage for the big steel cage match.
The new cage is to have a more circular design instead of the normal square structure around the ring. It will also stretch beyond the ring and cover part of the ringside area inside the barricades. That means the match won’t just be fought inside the ropes. AEW is giving the wrestlers more room to fight, which could make the whole thing a lot more chaotic.
The cage is expected to be used for the match with MJF and Mark Briscoe captaining opposite teams. With that kind of lineup inside a bigger cage, fans should probably expect a pretty wild scene.
AEW has not shown the cage to fans yet, so tonight’s pay-per-view could be the first real look at the new design. If the setup is as different as described, it could end up being one of the most talked-about visuals from Forbidden Door.

What do you think about AEW using a new steel cage design at Forbidden Door? Do you like the idea, or should they stick with the classic cage? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
