WWE’s early rundown for the July 10 episode of Friday Night SmackDown includes a major closing segment involving Gunther.

According to TRNBCKL, Gunther is currently listed for the final segment of tonight’s show in Oklahoma City. Exact details have not been revealed, but the placement puts Gunther at the center of the closing angle.

Gunther has already played a major role in the current title picture after attacking Cody Rhodes and taking him out of his scheduled match on RAW. That opened the door for CM Punk to replace Rhodes, defeat Sami Zayn and capture the Undisputed WWE Championship.

CM Punk is also currently listed to open SmackDown, according to Cory Hayes of False Finish. That means WWE’s early plan has the new champion opening the broadcast and Gunther closing it, creating an obvious link between the two segments.

The rest of the show includes Alexa Bliss vs. Jade Cargill, WWE Tag Team Champions R-Truth and Damian Priest against AAA World Tag Team Champions The Viking Raiders in a winner-take-all match, Trick Williams vs. Carmelo Hayes and Finn Balor vs. Tama Tonga.

Internal rundowns can always change before SmackDown goes live, but Gunther is currently positioned to close the show in what could be the biggest angle of the night.  Be sure to tune in live and follow along with Ringside News for full play-by-play coverage over in our SmackDown results section.
