WWE is saving one of tonight’s biggest Money in the Bank fights for last. The Women’s Money in the Bank qualifying match featuring Women’s United States Champion Jacy Jayne, Jade Cargill and Alexa Bliss is currently set to close the September 18 episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
According to Viper Reports, the early rundown has the Triple Threat match positioned as the final match of tonight’s show. This is still an early lineup, so WWE can shuffle things around or make other changes before SmackDown goes live.
Viper also made it clear that he is not convinced this will actually be the main event. He noted that the real main event could still be announced during the broadcast and simply may not be listed on the early rundown.
“For what it’s worth, as of now – I am not convinced that the Women’s MITB Qualifier is the main event of tonight’s show, I would assume that the actual main event of the show will be announced during tonight’s broadcast, which is why it likely is not listed on this early rundown. (Points to the Disclaimer above)”
There’s plenty riding on this one because only one woman is walking out with a ticket to Money in the Bank. Jayne enters the match carrying the Women’s United States Championship, but she won’t have to be pinned to lose the qualifier with Cargill and Bliss both hunting the same spot.
The match was one of several additions WWE made to the September 18 SmackDown lineup earlier in the day. The men will also have their own Money in the Bank qualifier when Randy Orton faces United States Champion Trick Williams and AAA Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix.
Sami Zayn is also currently set to open tonight’s SmackDown as the new Undisputed WWE Champion. That means WWE’s early plans have Zayn starting the night and the women’s Money in the Bank qualifier putting the finishing touches on it.
Here’s everything currently confirmed for the September 18 episode of WWE SmackDown:
- Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn appears
- Cody Rhodes sits down with Michael Cole
- Men’s Money in the Bank Qualifier: Randy Orton vs. United States Champion Trick Williams vs. AAA Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix
- Women’s Money in the Bank Qualifier: Women’s United States Champion Jacy Jayne vs. Jade Cargill vs. Alexa Bliss
