The inaugural AEW Redemption pay-per-view took place on Sunday, July 26, 2026, live from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. A massive ladder match is always a good way to determine a new #1 contender, and AEW took full advantage of that tonight.
The show opened with a six-way ladder match featuring Jack Perry, The Beast Mortos, Komander, “Speedball” Mike Bailey, Nick Wayne, and El Clon, with the winner earning a future AEW International Championship opportunity.
This match got off to a quick start as everyone in the match wanted to get that #1 contender spot. They also wanted to make sure fans got a hot match to kick off the pay-per-view. Naturally, fans were all about this match, even though the competitors took their time getting ladders involved. Once they got ladders in the match, the violence escalated quickly.
The match eventually made its way up the ramp, where Speedball took everyone out with a dangerous backflip dive off the ladder. Then Jack Perry climbed up to do some damage with his own dive, where he landed on his feet before taking the ladder to the ring.
They eventually got three ladders set up in the ring, and everyone was climbing up to get the contract. The match continued with a crazy table break spot on the outside from El Colon that included a rope walk. Nick Wayne pulled off another table break on the other side of the ring, but he used the assistance of a ladder.
This match included a ton of high spots and stretched for a good amount of time. After a ton of big moments, Speedball Mike Bailey made his way up the ladder and clinched the contract. Fans popped big time for the win, and Speedball celebrated a well-deserved victory. Now he will get a shot at the International Title.
