Shinsuke Nakamura wasted no time putting the new WWE Tag Team Champions on notice after SmackDown went off the air.
Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga of the MFTs captured the titles on the August 14 episode of WWE SmackDown, but Nakamura immediately turned the attention toward what could be coming next.
WWE released an off-air promo after the show where Nakamura congratulated the new champions before warning them that he already has a partner in mind. Nakamura made it clear this mystery man isn’t someone the MFTs should take lightly. He then took things a step further, describing his mystery partner as experienced, vicious and dangerous.
“MFTs, congratulations. You are now the champions. I am savoring defeat, knowing it’ll be gone soon. But the victory is knowing what’s coming next. Me. My partner. Your distraction.”
“My partner is what you all pretend to be: experienced, vicious, deadly. He is chaos. He’s a ticking time bomb. Take cover.”
Nakamura didn’t reveal who he was talking about, but the message was pretty clear. Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga may have just won the WWE Tag Team Championship, but they already have Nakamura and a mystery partner coming after them. The MFTs defeated Damian Priest and R-Truth and the War Raiders in a three-way match earlier in the night to win the titles, giving Talla Tonga his first WWE championship and Tama Tonga another tag title reign.
Now the bigger question is who Nakamura plans to bring with him. WWE clearly wants fans guessing, and Nakamura’s description of his partner as a “ticking time bomb” only adds more fuel to it.
