WWE SmackDown Results (8/14/26): Live Match Updates and Highlights

The show opens up with Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett welcoming us as we see the pre-show arrivals of CM Punk, Kevin Owens, Baron Corbin, Trick Williams, Tiffany Stratton and Fatal Influence.

We then see SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis in the ring. Aldis says Chelsea Green suffered a broken orbital bone last week and he has reached a decision regarding her status. Aldis then calls out WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green. Aldis says he knows how hard Green had worked and how much this means to her, but he talked to medical and he cannot let her compete with a broken socket. Green then says it’s healing and she will do whatever it takes. Green then tells Aldis not to say it. Aldis then says he wants Green to relinquish the WWE Women’s Championship. The WWE Universe then erupts with “No” chants.

Green then says she knew it was too good to be true. Green then says she knew when she climbed that ladder and took that title down, she was waiting for the other shoe to drop because every single time that something good and magical happens to her in this business, it is followed by something devastating. Green then says she’s the perfect opponent for the rest of the girls. Green then says she cannot become the QB1. The WWE Universe then erupts with “You deserve it” chants. Green then says Aldis knows how much she sacrificed to be here. Green then says she has missed the weddings and funerals. Green then says she has left all her blood and sweat in this ring. Green then says she threw her body in the dumpsters.

Green then says it was all worth it because this moment would come and now here she is. Green then says she made it. Green then tells Aldis to understand. Green then reminds Aldis that he was once a champion. Green then says until someone takes this title of her, this belongs to her. Green then says she thought Aldis of all people would understand. Green then hands over the WWE Women’s Championship and walks out of the ring. Aldis then stops Green and says as General Manager, he thinks he is doing the right thing. Aldis then says as a man, he doesn’t care what medical says. Green then goes back to the ring and Aldis gives her 30 days to get cleared.

GUNTHER’s music then hits and he makes his way down to the ring. GUNTHER says another sob story no one wants to hear about. GUNTHER then says let’s talk about important things. GUNTHER then says he knows Aldis is on a short leash and he wants to know why Aldis did what he did to him at SummerSlam. GUNTHER then says you climbed a ladder and you collided into a door frame and cried about it. GUNTHER then says he competed twice. GUNTHER then says he made a man tap in front of his family. GUNTHER then says why did you add Kevin Owens to his match. Aldis then says he didn’t add Owens to GUNTHER’s match, it was GUNTHER who got added to the match.

Green then tells GUNTHER to stroke his ego because that is all he has. Green then says there is only one champion in the ring and it is her. Matt Cardona then comes out and gets in GUNTHER’s face. GUNTHER then says all the way from catering to the rescue. GUNTHER then says what are you going to do. GUNTHER then says I can call your girl every slur and there is nothing you could do to him. Matt then punches GUNTHER and he goes to the floor.

Singles Match: Matt Cardona vs. “The Ring General” GUNTHER

The match starts off with Cardona hitting some forearms on GUNTHER in the corner. GUNTHER then sends Cardona crashing into the barricade near the timekeeper’ area and powerbombs him on the announce desk. GUNTHER then powerbombs him onto the ring apron and gets inside the ring.

The referee then begins a ten count, but Cardona slides into the ring. Green then hops up onto the apron and distracts the referee, allowing Cardona to low blow GUNTHER and hit a Radio Silence to him. He then goes for a pin, but GUNTHER kicks out and hits a couple of powerbombs to Cardona. GUNTHER then cinches in a Boston Crab on him and Cardona taps out.

The winner of the Singles Match, “The Ring General” GUNTHER!

After the match, medical officials check on Cardona as The Irresistible Forces make their way out. Nia Jax says Green wants to be a fighting champion and asks why waste any time. Jax then says she wants an Interim Women’s Championship Match due to being screwed out of two qualifiers for the Interim Women’s Championship SummerSlam Ladder Match. Jax then says if Green doesn’t give her what she wants, she has a history of breaking faces. Tiffany Stratton’s music then hits and she runs out to the ring to come to Green’s aid. Lash Legend then applies a Bear Hug and Jax hits a leg drop on Stratton. Legend then hits a forearm.

We then take a look at the debut of Tatum Paxley on the main roster.

We then see Charlotte Flair and she tells Alexa Bliss she misses her. Flair then thanks Alexa for what she did and Alexa says it was Tatum. Alexa then says Tatum reminds herself about her. Alexa then says you will like her surprise. We then see her new locker room and Flair is a little freaked out.

We then get a video package looking at the feud between Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes.

We then see “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes approach SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, who is talking with Jason Jordan and Shawn Daivari and he says he and Randy Orton need to settle this before it gets out of hand. Nick Aldis then suggests Sunday Night’s Main Vain Event. Cody then says he doesn’t care. Sami Zayn then shows up and he says Cody wants a match against Randy. Sami then talks about his number one contender’s match. Cody says he used to allow Sami to do this, but he thought he owed him. He then says he doesn’t owe anyone. He then says if you want to do it, let’s do it. Sami then says he pinned Cody clean. Cody then tells Sami to say when. He then says he wants a match tonight. Aldis then asks Sami if there is something in it for him. He then says if Sami beats Cody, he gets the winner of Punk and Owens. Sami then insists he’s injured, but Aldis tells him that he has a decision to make.

Carmelo Hayes then makes his way down to the ring for the next match of the night and Baron Corbin follows.

WWE United States Championship Match: Baron Corbin (c) vs. Carmelo Hayes

The match starts off with both men locking up. Hayes then hits a flip dive onto Corbin and they get into the ring. Hayes then avoids a splash and he chops and punches Corbin. Hayes then hits an enzuigiri and a springboard clothesline for a near fall. Hayes is then sent to the apron and Hayes hits a punch and he goes up top. Corbin then catches Hayes and Hayes gets free. Corbin then goes over the top rope when Hayes moves. Hayes then hits a springboard leg drop. Corbin then blocks a First 48 and hits a power bomb. Corbin then sends Hayes to the floor and into the ringside barrier. Corbin then sends Hayes into the ring post and over the ringside barrier into the time keeper’s area.

Corbin then picks up Hayes and Hayes hits some chops. Corbin then hits a knee and he sends Hayes into the ring steps. Corbin then hits a punch in the corner. Hayes then hits several punches and Corbin hits an elbow for a near fall. Corbin then hits an elbow to the back of the neck followed by several punches. Corbin then hits a forearm to the back. Hayes then hits several forearms and Corbin blocks an Irish whip and he Irish whips Hayes and hits a clothesline. Hayes then escapes a power slam and Corbin misses a splash. Hayes then hits a kick and a springboard DDT for a near fall. Hayes then hits a frog splash for a near fall. Corbin then blocks a First 48 and Corbin hits a boot.

Hayes then counters a power bomb into a sunset flip for a near fall. Corbin then hits a Deep Six for a near fall. Hayes then escapes an End of Days and hits a First 48 and follows it up with a second one. Hayes then goes up top and Corbin sends Hayes to the floor. Corbin then hits an End of Days for the win.

After the match, Trick Williams makes his way out and Lil Yachty hits Corbin with a kendo stick. Corbin then blocks a second attempt. Trick then hits a Trick Shot to Corbin.

We then see Tiffany Stratton in the locker room and Chelsea Green thanks Tiffany for helping her. Tiffany then says she is okay to wrestle tonight and Green looks worried.

Kevin Owens’ music then hits and he makes his way down to the ring. Before Owens can say anything, CM Punk’s music hits and he makes his way down to the ring. Punk says Owens is a lot of things, but not a coward. Punk then says he knows everything that Owens is about to say concerns him. Punk then says he wants Owens to say it to his face. Punk then says the floor belongs to Owens. Owens then says it’s pretty ironic because Punk turned his back on him and body-shamed him. Punk then asks Owens if he thinks he wouldn’t say it to his face. Owens then reminds the WWE Universe of his history with Punk.

Owens then says he and Punk wrestled for the same independent promotion and Punk was a big-talker while he was trying to make a name for himself. Owens then says Punk chose to berate him and scream at him in the locker room full of peers. Owens then says it is not all that. Owens then says it is who you have been and what you said. Owens then says the way you treated friends. Punk then asks him to be specific. Owens then says it is more than three. Owens then says it is everyone. Owens then says Punk calls them losers. Owens then says he sees people who look up to you because you came back and made amends. Punk then says Owens is the one who doesn’t like him and he will never like him. He then says you are a phony. Owens then says you came back because you had no choice. Owens then says you screwed things up everywhere else. Owens then says he doesn’t respect people like you.

Owens then says he has done well for himself. Owens then says he main evented everywhere. Owens then says he main evented WrestleMania against Steve Austin. Punk then says he was happy for him. Punk then says do you think you would have gotten that if he was here. Owens then tells Punk to say it to him. Punk then says he is here as the Undisputed WWE Champion and there is a locker room full of people. He then says called out Oba Femi and he got endometriosis instead. He then says it would be a mistake to take you lightly. He then says he sees wasted potential. He then says sees a tough buy who is a bum. Punk then says he has evolved and adapted. He then says if you did some of the work instead of avoiding it you would have avoided that Bill Goldberg spear.

Owens then says he sees someone who main evented Wrestlemania. Owens then says Punk hates who he sees in the mirror. Owens then says he is the same person at 20 years ago and he is facing you for the title. Owens then says you couldn’t avoid that Roman spear. Punk then says he sees someone who is stubborn and loud and always things he is right. Owens then asks if Punk is angry that he never sought his advise. Owens then says he regrets not punching Punk in the locker room. Punk then tells him to do it. Owens then says he didn’t do it before because Punk would have ruined his career. Owens then says next week he gets to beat Punk’s b***h ass. Punk then says Owens will be looking up to him after he puts him to sleep.

We then see Finn Bálor and he says he understands why Nick Aldis added Kevin Owens and GUNTHER and he asks for some advance notice. GUNTHER then interrupts and he wants to sort out the SummerSlam issue. Aldis then says GUNTHER is interrupting his conversation with Finn. Finn then calls GUNTHER a condescending prick and says he was going to tell Aldis he would do whatever it takes to get a title match even if that means going through him.

Damian Priest and R-Truth then make their way down to the ring for the next match of the night and The War Raiders, Tama Tonga, Talla Tonga and Haku follow.

WWE Tag Team Championship Triple Threat Match: Damian Priest and R-Truth (c) vs. MFT (Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga) vs. AAA World Tag Team Champions The War Raiders (Erik and Ivar)

The match starts off with R-Truth, Erik and Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga tags in. Ivar and Damian Priest then enter the ring and all six men begin brawling with one another. Tama then sends Erik out of the ring and MFT go at it with The War Raiders on the outside, but Priest flies off the top rope with some assistance from Truth to take out the two other tag teams on the outside. Priest then tags in and hits Ivar with a spinning kick. He then hits an elevated flatliner to Ivar and tags out to Truth, but Ivar hits a cannonball off the middle rope to Talla to take him out on the outside. He then hits an over the shoulder powerslam to Tama when Erik tosses Tama over to him before Talla hits an over the shoulder powerslam to Truth.

Erik and Priest then hit a double superplex on Talla and Truth cinches in an STF on Talla. Talla then breaks free, but Erik hits him with a knee strike and a belly-to-belly suplex to Priest. Priest then sends Erik crashing into the mat with a big boot and hits a couple of spinning kicks to him on the outside, then sends him crashing through the barricade. Inside the ring, Tama looks to hit a Cutthroat on Truth. Truth then hits Tama with a couple of shoulder tackles and a slam, then follows it up with a Five knuckle Shuffle and sets up for an Attitude Adjustment. Tama then escapes and MFT hits a Brother’s Keeper to Truth for the win.

After the match, Haku stands tall in the ring with his sons as they celebrate winning the WWE Tag Team Championship.

We then see Fatal Influence walking in the backstage area.

Fatal Influence then make their way down to the ring for the next match of the night and Tiffany Stratton follows.

WWE Women’s United States Championship Match: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Fatal Influence’s Jacy Jayne

The match starts off with Jacy Jayne driving her shoulder into the midsection of Tiffany Stratton and she hits a senton. Jayne is now targeting Stratton’s ribs. Stratton is now screaming in pain. Jayne then smashes Stratton’s head down to the mat. She then misses a senton. Stratton then hits a hip attack and she follows it up with a standing dropkick for a near fall. Stratton then hits a clothesline. Lainey Reid is now up on the apron. Stratton then deals with Reid, allowing Jayne to hit a backbreaker. Chelsea Green then makes her way down to the ring to check on Stratton.

Both women are now down in the middle of the ring after Jayne drops Stratton. Both women then trade strikes in the middle of the ring. Stratton then hits a spinning back elbow and she follows it up with an Alabama Slam. Stratton then heads to the top rope and she hits a Swanton Bomb for a near fall. Jayne then superkicks Stratton. Stratton then hits a springboard cutter and she follows it up with a rolling senton. Stratton then goes for a Prettiest Moonsault Ever, but Jayne gets her knees up. Both women are now going back and forth in the middle of the ring.

Stratton then hits a knee. Green is now dealing with Fatal Influence on the outside. Stratton then hits a crossbody, taking out Fatal Influence. Back in the ring, Jayne hits Stratton with a Rolling Encore for the win.

After the match, Fatal Influence celebrate the win.

We then see Cathy Kelley with Jade Cargill, B-Fab and Michin and she asks them about Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley. Jade says they can’t handle their own business. She then says line them all up and she will knock them down. Fab then says she is looking for the proper welcome to SmackDown.

Cody Rhodes then makes his way down to the ring for the main event of the night. Randy Orton attacking Cody Rhodes as Sami Zayn is making his way down to the ring for the match. Randy then sends Cody into the ring post and hits a draping DDT. Randy then sets up for the RKO and Cody bocks it, but randy rakes the eyes and sends him to the floor. Cody is then sent into the ring steps and Randy hits Cody with the steps. Cody then punches Randy and they fight through the crowd.

Cody then hits Randy with a trash can. Cody then sends Randy into the bleacher. Randy then hits a punch and a European uppercut. Randy then hits a kick and they go back into the ringside area. Randy then sends Cody into a member of the security staff. Randy then sends Cody into the announce desk and he punches Cody. Randy then puts Cody in the gap between the steps and he gets a chair. Cody then kicks Randy low and Cody hits Randy with the chair. Cody then stands over Randy and officials take the chair from Cody. Another official then pulls Cody off the announce desk. Cody is then held back and he continues brawling with Randy as the show comes to a close.
