Sheamus may be working toward a WWE return, but his latest post shows that the road back has come with an unexpected setback as he suffered a very nasty head wound.
The Celtic Warrior took to Instagram and revealed that he suffered a painful-looking head injury during a gym session. The photos showed Sheamus sitting with a towel pressed against his head while blood dripped down his arm and face.
In another image, Sheamus pulled the towel away to reveal a deep gash on his head, showing the extent of the injury following what appeared to be a freak accident while training. Alongside the photos, Sheamus kept his caption short and to the point: “gym fail #fml 🏋🏼🤕⚠️”
This comes as Sheamus has been working his way back from shoulder surgery. Earlier last year, he revealed that he underwent surgery on December 30 after trying to wrestle through a shoulder issue that had been bothering him since his match with Rusev at Clash in Paris.
“Yeah, this one has been difficult. It kind of came out of nowhere. I started noticing my shoulder around May-June at Clash in Paris against Rusev. It was bothering me and I thought I tore it. I got a couple of shots in there and it felt good for a little while, but ultimately it was just a matter of time before it stopped moving on me. I tried to push through it to the point where I couldn’t move my arms. I had surgery on December 30. Ever since then, I’ve been rehabbing. I’m dying to get back in the ring and back to work. I have cabin fever.”
More recently, the Celtic Warrior was spotted at the WWE Performance Center training alongside several NXT talent, which many fans viewed as a positive sign that his in-ring return was getting closer.
The former WWE Champion has made it clear that he is eager to get back inside the ring, and this latest accident does not appear to have changed that mindset. Even so, fans will be hoping the Celtic Warrior avoids any more gym mishaps as he continues preparing for his WWE return.
