Sheamus came painfully close to becoming a WWE Grand Slam Champion, but he is not losing sleep over the one title that got away.
During his conversation with Adam’s Apple, Sheamus was asked about never winning the Intercontinental Championship. The title was the final major piece missing from his WWE résumé, and the interviewer wanted to know whether failing to capture it left him with any regrets. Sheamus shut that idea down immediately.
“I’ve had an amazing career, fella. No regrets. I mean it—no regrets.”
That answer says plenty about where Sheamus’ head is following the end of his WWE run. He spent nearly two decades with the company, became a multiple-time world champion, won the United States Championship, captured tag team gold and took home victories in the Royal Rumble, Money in the Bank and King of the Ring.
The Intercontinental Championship remained out of reach despite Sheamus openly chasing it during the later years of his WWE career. He challenged for the title several times and made it clear that completing the Grand Slam mattered to him, but it never happened before his departure.
Still, Sheamus is refusing to let one missing championship define everything else he accomplished. As far as he is concerned, the career speaks for itself, and he walked away from WWE without looking back in frustration.
