Seth Rollins has closed WrestleMania three times, but he still doesn’t believe he has ever truly main-evented the show.
During season three of WWE Unreal, Rollins explained that cashing in at WrestleMania 31 and closing night one at WrestleMania 40 and WrestleMania 41 do not count the same as being advertised for the final match of night two.
“In my opinion, I haven’t properly main-evented WrestleMania. A couple of night ones and the cash-in, yada yada. But for me, being on the marquee and headlining night two, having that is something I’ve always wanted.”
Rollins believed WrestleMania 42 was finally going to be his chance. Then the shoulder injury happened. He suffered the injury during his Crown Jewel match against Cody Rhodes in October 2025, forcing him to vacate the World Heavyweight Championship and completely changing WWE’s WrestleMania plans.
“I do feel like WrestleMania 42 was probably the year for it. To know that it’s probably out the window, it’s really difficult to wrap my head around.”
Rollins returned at Elimination Chamber, but his dream spot was already gone. Roman Reigns and CM Punk closed night two of WrestleMania 42 for the World Heavyweight Championship, while Rollins faced Gunther elsewhere on the card. He is now healthy and chasing the championship he never lost in the ring, with Rollins set to challenge Reigns at SummerSlam.
Rollins has already created several massive WrestleMania moments, but the one he wants most is still missing from his résumé. In his eyes, the injury didn’t just cost him a championship—it cost him the WrestleMania main event he had waited his entire career to get.
