Seth Rollins is heading into WrestleMania 42 with momentum on his side, but he’s also making it clear that his body isn’t at full strength just yet.

Rollins is set to return to the ring at WrestleMania 42, where he will face Gunther in a singles match. The bout will mark Rollins’ first match since October 2025, when he suffered a shoulder injury during a match against Cody Rhodes that kept him sidelined for months.

While speaking with ESPN’s First Take, Rollins addressed questions about his recovery timeline and whether he had been healthier than he previously let on. The discussion turned to his earlier comments about not being ready to compete, only for him to later appear during the Elimination Chamber period. Rollins explained that he intentionally kept details quiet to protect his plans and prevent Logan Paul from gaining momentum at the time. After addressing that situation, Rollins shifted focus directly to his current health and how he feels heading into WrestleMania.

“Well, look, I don't know if it's been fine for weeks and I got to apologize, but look, if I gave it all away to you right there, then I wouldn't have been able to get into the chamber and make sure that Logan Paul didn't win the Elimination Chamber match. So, in reality, by lying to you, I have done you a favor because I have saved us all the trouble of seeing Logan Paul in a title match at WrestleMania.”

Once that explanation was out of the way, Rollins gave a straightforward update on the condition of his shoulder, admitting that while he feels strong, he isn’t completely back to full health yet.

“So, thankfully, as for the shoulder, it feels great. I don't know that it's 100%, but maybe 80–90% and I'll tell you what, my 80–90% is pretty good.”

Rollins didn’t shy away from tying that recovery update directly to the challenge waiting for him at WrestleMania. With Gunther targeting him in recent weeks and building tension ahead of the event, Rollins made it clear that even at less than full strength, he believes he’s ready to step into the spotlight and prove himself.

“Good enough to get us in a position here where we've got a match at WrestleMania. You mentioned it against Gunther who has targeted me actually in the last couple of weeks… So, we're going to find out this Saturday night at WrestleMania who the best really is. And I can't wait.”

Rollins walking into WrestleMania at 80–90% adds to the intrigue to an already stacked card. Facing a powerhouse like Gunther while still recovering from a serious shoulder injury raises real questions about durability, timing, and whether experience alone will be enough to overcome physical limitations on the biggest stage of the year.

With WrestleMania 42 fast approaching, all eyes will be on Rollins to see whether his confidence holds up once the bell rings, or if the lingering effects of his injury play a role in the outcome against one of WWE’s toughest opponents.
