Scarlett Bordeaux is shutting down a misleading headline about her past experiences in WWE after feeling her comments were completely taken out of context.

The discussion originally came from an appearance on D-Von Dudley’s podcast alongside Karrion Kross, where Scarlett spoke about her time in NXT and how certain producers would sometimes ask her to cover up more before going out to the ring. During the interview, Scarlett criticized the idea of policing how women dress, saying she viewed it as another form of objectification rather than empowerment.

“Telling a woman to take her clothes off is equivalent to saying cover up, basically. Like, just let me do what the hell I want to do, basically. So, you know, it’s just as bad to like, you know, it’s a different form of objectification.”

Scarlett then explained that producers would occasionally approach her backstage right before appearances and ask her to adjust her gear.

“I won’t say who, but some of the producers, every single time, like, before going out there, they’d be like, ‘Can you just cover up the cleavage? Can you just pull that down?’”

She also admitted the mixed messaging left her confused about what WWE actually wanted from her character at the time: “I’m like, OK, this is clearly not what we’re going for right now.” Scarlett later added that WWE clearly liked pairing her with Kross, but she was uncertain about where she fit creatively on her own.

“They really liked the idea of us two together, because after a few months, I’m like, what am I gonna do here? Because I thought they signed me for this character, and they said they liked it, but they don’t want to use it.”

However, after one article ran with the headline “Scarlett Bordeaux Has Issues with WWE’s Cleavage Policy,” Scarlett immediately took to Twitter to blast the framing of the story and clarify her comments. Scarlett made it clear the interview was specifically about her early NXT experiences — not some current company-wide issue with WWE.

“This is the most out of context crap headline. In the interview I was talking about when I got to NXT.”

The response quickly got attention from fans, especially because Scarlett clearly felt the original headline exaggerated and distorted what she was actually trying to say during the interview.

Bottom line: Scarlett Bordeaux is not happy with how her comments about her early NXT experiences were presented, and she made sure to publicly correct the narrative herself.

Do you think wrestling headlines sometimes take interview comments too far out of context, or is controversy just part of wrestling media now? Leave your thoughts below.
