Roxanne Perez loves meeting WWE fans — but she’s drawing a hard line when it comes to people waiting around hotels and airports trying to catch wrestlers off the clock. Perez says there’s a right place to meet WWE Superstars, and somebody’s temporary home on the road isn’t it.
While speaking with Fox News and OutKick, Perez made it clear she understands why fans get excited. She grew up as one herself and knows how much getting a photo or autograph can mean. But there’s a difference between meeting somebody at an arena and camping out where they’re staying.
“First off, I love my fans so much. I love all of the fans. We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without the fans. And I think being a fan myself, growing up as a fan, I can see it in a different light. I think these fans, they love what we do, they respect us so much. They admire us. It is a big deal when they get to meet us and they get their picture signed.”
That’s where Perez says the boundary needs to kick in. WWE gives fans plenty of chances to meet talent at arenas and organized appearances. Perez says that’s exactly how she did it when she was younger — not by hanging around somebody’s hotel or catching them while they’re scrambling through an airport.
“But it’s also, like, we just gotta be careful on where we do it and when we do it. We obviously have the arenas. The arenas are where we show up. There’s an exact location where you go and meet and meet the WWE superstars. That’s always what I did when I was a kid.”
Perez then got even more direct about life on the road. For WWE talent, hotels aren’t just random buildings — they’re basically home while traveling. Airports can be just as chaotic, especially when wrestlers are trying to make a flight and have people stopping them for pictures and autographs.
“But also, when we are on the road, our hotels are our home. When we’re running late for a plane and trying to catch our flight, and it does break my heart to tell people no, but at the same time, we do have to respect everybody’s privacy.”
Perez knows some fans may take a “no” personally, but she says wrestlers are still people trying to live their lives when the cameras are off. And she made sure nobody twisted that into her saying she doesn’t appreciate WWE’s audience.
“We are just humans. We are WWE superstars but we are just humans. We’re trying to live our life while also trying to make the fans happy. But there’s gotta be some line.”
“That doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate our fans at all. I just think there needs to be a little bit of a line. But we do love you guys, OK?”
Perez’s message is pretty simple — scream for her at the arena, meet her at an appearance and enjoy the show, but give her some breathing room when she’s trying to get on a plane or go back to her hotel. Being a WWE Superstar doesn’t mean being available to fans 24/7.
