Roxanne Perez isn’t interested in spending the rest of her WWE career looking up to the women she grew up watching. At this point, she believes she has already passed some of them.

During an appearance on NotSam Wrestling Live, Perez was asked about the change from the wide-eyed wrestler who arrived in NXT thrilled to be living her dream to the much more confident version fans see today. Perez said she used to be happy just making it to WWE and admitted she grew up looking up to AJ Lee, Bayley and Paige. That mindset is gone now.

“Absolutely. This is the best I’ve ever felt in my entire career. I went from being someone that was just happy to be here. I was just like all of you guys sitting in the crowd, just hoping to be a WWE Superstar one day and looking up to all the wrestlers, like AJ Lee and Bayley and Paige.”

Perez then explained that she eventually realized simply idolizing those women wasn’t getting her anywhere. That’s when she decided she needed to stop looking up to them and start believing she was better than them. She specifically called out Bayley and Paige, claiming she is already better than both of them at only 24 years old.

“And then I realized, but where did that ever get me? Just looking up to people. It got me absolutely nowhere. So then I realized, wait, I’m actually way better than Bayley. I’m actually way better than Paige. I’m actually way better than all of these women at only 24 years old, and they wish that they were as good as me at 24 years old.”

Perez didn’t stop there. She also credited The Judgment Day with changing the direction of her WWE career, saying the faction has helped keep her from getting lost in the shuffle after moving to the main roster.

“The Judgment Day is the best thing that ever happened to me. All these girls come up to the main roster and they get lost in the shuffle, and look at me. I’m one of the greatest members in the greatest faction of all time, and this is not my peak at all. I have so much more to show you guys. So, I hope you guys are ready.”

Perez clearly isn’t playing the grateful rookie anymore. She went from idolizing Bayley and Paige to openly saying she has already surpassed them, and she believes there is still a lot more coming from her WWE career.
