Roxanne Perez still remembers the exact sound of her brutal head-on collision with Liv Morgan, and months later, the moment is apparently hard for her to forget.

During an appearance on NotSam Wrestling Live, Perez was asked about the nasty collision involving herself and Morgan ahead of WrestleMania. The two smashed heads during the segment, and Perez admitted the sound of the impact still replays in her mind. Perez called it one of the scariest things she has experienced during her wrestling career and revealed that Morgan was still dealing with a knot on her forehead around five months later.

“That sound is something that just replays in my head. It’s like a horror movie. It’s literally like a horror movie. I can still hear it, and it makes me cringe. That was like the scariest — one of the scariest things that’s ever happened to me in professional wrestling. Liv Morgan still has that knot on her head.”

When asked if she immediately realized how hard they had collided, Perez said there was no question. She heard the impact and instantly started checking her own head because she knew something had happened.

“Immediately. Immediately, clunk. I heard the crack and I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ I was just laying on the floor and I was pressing my head because I was like, ‘I just know I have a bump.’ That’s the first thing that came to my mind.”

Things became even clearer once the segment was over. Perez said she turned around and saw Morgan’s injury before checking her own head. While Perez’s bump disappeared within about a week, Morgan’s stuck around much longer.

“And then they yelled cut, I turned around and looked at Liv and she went like this, and I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ And then I looked at mine and I was like, ‘Okay, mine’s not as bad, but it’s still pretty bad.’ And then, yeah, mine went away in like a week.”

Perez was also asked whether taking a hit like that makes her approach wrestling differently afterward. She said accidents are simply part of the business and pushed back against anyone who dismisses what wrestlers do because the matches are predetermined.

“It really just comes with the business. You know, people like to say, ‘Oh, but wrestling, you watch that. It’s fake.’ Well, the welt on her forehead is not fake. I can guarantee you that.”

Perez said there was no way for anyone involved to know the collision was coming, which is what makes moments like that so dangerous.

“Honestly, I think it’s the name of the game. There’s no way that we could have expected that to happen. There’s no way that we would have known that Stephanie came in the way that she came in. But yeah, I think it’s literally just — it can happen at any time, any place, anywhere. So, yeah. It’s just hoping that it doesn’t happen ever again.”

Perez and Morgan walked away from the collision, but the fact that Perez can still hear the impact in her head months later says plenty about how nasty it was. It was one of those moments where the physical side of professional wrestling became impossible to ignore.
