WWE may already have its biggest WrestleMania 43 match in sight, and Oba Femi could be heading straight for Roman Reigns on the biggest stage possible.
Dave Meltzer provided an update in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, writing that the current belief is WWE is building toward Reigns vs. Femi as the Sunday main event of WrestleMania 43 in Riyadh in 2027. The update came after Nick Khan indicated that key creative plans for WrestleMania are already in place, barring injuries. Meltzer then revealed where things are believed to be heading.
“The belief is they are building to Reigns vs. Femi as the main event on the Sunday.”
That does not mean Roman Reigns vs. Oba Femi is officially locked in. Meltzer was careful to point out that WrestleMania plans have a habit of changing as WWE gets closer to the show, especially when injuries or other creative changes enter the picture. Still, the fact that Reigns vs. Femi is currently being viewed as a potential WrestleMania Sunday main event says plenty about how WWE sees Oba.
Meltzer had previously discussed the idea of WWE resisting the temptation to rush Femi into a match with Roman at SummerSlam. His point was that WWE could have used Reigns to make Oba into an instant megastar, but the company appears to view the matchup as too valuable to burn anywhere other than WrestleMania.
“They could put Oba over Roman. They could’ve sat here and gone, ‘We’ve got to make a new star. Let’s put Oba over Roman Reigns at SummerSlam.’ They could’ve done it.”
Instead, WWE paired Oba with Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam after their confrontation on the June 29 episode of WWE RAW. That interaction eventually led to Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar being set for Hell in a Cell. Meltzer previously described WWE’s apparent strategy as keeping Oba protected, dangerous and dominant until the time is right to pull the trigger.
“That is the mentality. You get him over. The idea is he’s an unbeatable monster, and we take our time to get to WrestleMania.”
If that remains the direction, Brock Lesnar may simply be another massive obstacle on the road to an even bigger destination.
Roman Reigns vs. Oba Femi headlining WrestleMania would represent a huge vote of confidence in The Ruler, especially if WWE intends to use Reigns to help cement him as one of the company’s next true top-level stars.
Nothing is official yet, and there is still plenty of time for WWE’s plans to change. But right now, the belief is that Roman Reigns vs. Oba Femi is not just being considered for Wrest
