WWE brought RAW to fans this week a little early because they wanted to tape SmackDown afterward to give their Superstars the 3rd of July off. The red brand was still live after Night of Champions, and there was no way of telling what Oba Femi was going to do.

Oba Femi won the 2026 King of the Ring tournament, and many were wondering if WWE planned on giving him GUNTHER’s booking. The Ring General used his King of the Ring win to secure a 666-day title reign, and The Ruler was ready to make his own kind of history.

The show opened up with Oba Femi as the new King of the Ring. He took a moment to let the Atlantic City crowd chant his name, and then he proclaimed that he is no longer just a Ruler, but also a king.

Fans cheered for Oba Femi before he spoke about destiny being on his side, and how Jey Uso didn’t believe until he was demolished at Night of Champions. Oba spoke about his SummerSlam choice, but then Brock Lesnar’s music hit, and The Beast Incarnate came out with Paul Heyman by his side.

Oba Femi didn’t move from the center of the ring as Brock Lesnar approached. Brock Lesnar started his promo by trying to shake Oba Femi’s hand as the 2026 King of the Ring. Lesnar admitted that he doesn’t watch the show, but he congratulated him anyway. Lesnar said that he was once King of the Ring, too. That is when Lesnar admitted that Paul Heyman has to tell him what happens, which included Oba Femi’s big decision and the fact that he calls Lesnar a “coward” and a “b*tch” when he’s not around.

Then Lesnar reminded Oba Femi that “talk sh*t, get hit” and that was followed by a kick in the nuts and an F5. That was quite a way to open up RAW this week, and Oba Femi didn’t have any time to make his decision.

As Brock Lesnar left, Oba Femi grabbed the microphone. He said that Lesnar is in front of him and he’s “still a b*tch.” That is when he challenged Brock Lesnar to a SummerSlam match. Lesnar accepted it, but he one-upped him to make it a Hell in a Cell match. That match is certain to sell some tickets, but it didn’t put Oba Femi in a title match at the biggest party of the summer.

What’s your take on Oba Femi’s choice for his SummerSlam opponent? Do you think he will walk away with the title when everything is said and done? Let us know what you think in the comments section!
