Ring of Honor stopped everything to honor Andy Williams before its September 8 television tapings in Jacksonville, Florida. “The Butcher” was remembered with a moment of silence and a 10-bell salute, with Tony Khan coming out personally for the tribute.
Williams passed away over the weekend at 48 years old, sending shockwaves through both the wrestling and music worlds. Before the ROH tapings got underway, the company made sure one of its former wrestlers got a proper goodbye. Khan joined those gathered at ringside as the building went silent for Williams before the traditional 10 bells were rung in his memory. One fan inside the venue shared footage of the tribute and described what happened.
Williams wrestled for AEW from 2019 through 2025 and also made appearances for Ring of Honor in 2023 and 2024. His final ROH match came in November 2024 against Katsuyori Shibata. His wrestling career was only one side of who Williams was. Long before fans knew him as The Butcher, he was the guitarist for Every Time I Die, a band that became a major name in hardcore music. The group was inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame in 2019.
Williams later crossed over into professional wrestling and became instantly recognizable thanks to the mustache, tattoos and bruising style that made The Butcher stand out the second he walked through the curtain. Now, just days after his sudden death, ROH made sure Williams got one more moment in front of a wrestling crowd — this time with the entire building standing still for him.
