Ricochet heard Paul Heyman say WWE answers to shareholders, and he couldn’t resist taking a shot. According to Ricochet, AEW doesn’t have that problem because it answers to the people actually watching the shows.

Heyman made the comment during the August 17 edition of Monday Night RAW while explaining why WWE wasn’t going to give away a match like Oba Femi vs. Bron Breakker on RAW. His point was that WWE has more than the live crowd and television audience to think about when deciding where its biggest matches happen.

“This is the biggest promotion in the world. We don’t just answer to the people live and the people at home, we answer to shareholders.”

Ricochet saw that comment and immediately turned it into an AEW-WWE comparison. He took to Twitter and declared AEW the “Greatest Wrestling company in the world,” while making it clear who he believes the company actually answers to.

“We’re the Greatest Wrestling company in the world. So no we don’t answer to ‘Share Holders’ we answer to OUR fans. Because they’re the ones who deserve it.”

That was enough to get people arguing. One fan pointed out how strange they found complaints about AEW putting major matches on weekly television. Their argument was simple: if someone is spending two to four hours watching AEW every week, they should expect the company to actually give them something big.

“Its wild how there will be people that complain about big matches on television for free. If you dedicate 2 to 4 hours a week watching AEW TV, you should expect big matches each week.”

Ricochet agreed—and wasn’t particularly nice about the people who see it differently.

“People are really that ignorant. It’s crazy.”

One comment from Heyman about shareholders was all Ricochet needed. WWE may be saving Oba Femi vs. Bron Breakker for a bigger stage, but Ricochet clearly isn’t interested in AEW following the same playbook. As far as he’s concerned, the fans come first, and giving them big matches every week isn’t something AEW should have to apologize for.
