Ricky Saints may not have a SummerSlam match yet—but don’t tell him it’s over. The SmackDown star says he’s still holding out hope that WWE finds a spot for him before the biggest party of the summer.
While speaking with Michele Ippolito, Saints was asked about SummerSlam despite not currently being advertised for the two-night event. Rather than sounding disappointed, Saints made it clear he’s not ruling anything out just yet.
“”Well, I may not be having a match right now, but there’s still time, okay? There’s still time and, you know, I think this summer is actually very, very exciting.”
Saints went on to praise WWE’s decision to expand SummerSlam to two nights, saying fans are getting a stacked lineup and plenty of value for their tickets. He then couldn’t resist making one final pitch for himself.
“We have a stacked card so far. We have a stacked card so far. To make it even more stacked with a cherry on top to make it more absolute, they can always add a Ricky Saints to it.”
The comments come after Saints quietly disappeared from WWE television following Night of Champions in June, where he came up short against Trick Williams in his bid to capture the WWE United States Championship. Since then, he hasn’t appeared on WWE programming and has yet to be announced for SummerSlam.
With less than a week to go before SummerSlam, the clock is quickly running out for Saints. WWE could always squeeze another match onto the card, but with the lineup already packed across two nights, his chances appear to be getting slimmer by the day. Whether Saints finds his way onto the show or is forced to wait for his next opportunity, fans won’t have to wait much longer to find out.
